What Your Child Will Learn

  • Early Reading & Phonics

In the early elementary years, students develop strong reading foundations through phonics instruction, handwriting practice, and daily exposure to rich literature. Beginning with letter recognition and sound blending in Kindergarten, students gradually progress to fluent reading, spelling patterns, and vocabulary development. Through phonics instruction, copywork, narration, and guided reading, children learn to decode words confidently and grow in comprehension. By the end of fifth grade, students read a wide range of classic and informational texts independently and are prepared for deeper literary analysis in the later stages of learning.

  • Introduction to Writing & Grammar

Students develop strong writing skills through a gradual progression from handwriting and sentence formation to clear, organized written expression. In the early grades, students practice copywork, narration, and basic sentence construction while learning the foundational rules of grammar and punctuation. As they grow, instruction expands to include paragraph writing, spelling, vocabulary development, and more formal grammar study. By the end of fifth grade, students are able to write clear paragraphs, apply standard grammar rules, and begin to communicate their ideas effectively in written form.

  • Mathematics

Students at Faithful Foundations develop through the steady mastery of mathematical concepts. Beginning with number recognition, counting, and basic operations in the early grades, students gradually build fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Instruction emphasizes understanding number relationships, solving practical problems, and developing accuracy through consistent practice. As students progress, they are introduced to fractions, decimals, measurement, geometry, and multi-step problem solving, preparing them for more advanced mathematical reasoning in the middle school years.

  • Bible & Character Formation

Our classes are grounded in the truth of Scripture as students learn the overarching story of the Bible and the character of God. Through daily Bible reading, memorization, discussion, and prayer, students grow in their understanding of biblical teachings and Christian virtues such as honesty, humility, diligence, and love for others. Biblical principles are integrated throughout the school day, encouraging students to develop habits of responsibility, respect, and service. The goal is not only knowledge of Scripture but the formation of wise and virtuous character.

  • Science

Elementary students explore God’s creation through hands-on observation, experimentation, and guided inquiry. They begin with the natural world—plants, animals, weather, and the seasons—and gradually study Earth, life, and physical sciences, learning basic scientific concepts and vocabulary. Instruction emphasizes careful observation, asking questions, recording findings, and drawing conclusions, fostering curiosity and critical thinking. By the end of fifth grade, students are able to apply scientific reasoning, understand fundamental principles, and see the order and wonder of God’s creation in the world around them.

  • History & Geography

In partnership with teachers and parents, our students develop a sense of time, place, and story through the study of history and geography with their local community and family and expanding to nations, cultures, and world events. In the early grades, they learn basic timelines, maps, and landmarks, while later grades introduce major historical figures, events, and civilizations. By the end of fifth grade, students have a foundational knowledge of both world and biblical history, along with the geographic awareness needed to understand the context of the stories they study.
